This is why waxes break down in a short time (6-8 weeks) and need to be applied on a regular base.

In addition to this, other disadvantages of waxing include becoming sticky when exposed to sunlight thus attracting dust and dirt to car and consequently making it look dirty. But generally waxes offer a good protection for car paint. It is very important that you use high quality waxes to get full paint protection from waxing.

Other methods of car paint protection include the use of paint of sealants which work by sealing the holes found on the surface of the car (in the paintwork) and thus preventing potential paint hazards e.g. rain water, UV rays from `getting in`. Paint sealants are easily applied (in less time than waxing) and last longer than waxes (up to 12 months). But as can be expected paint sealants come in a higher price than waxes.

These are the main ways you can protect your car`s surface and paint. Which one you want to use is entirely up to you. However once you have made up your mind just don`t forget the golden rule: SHOP AROUND.
